Experts are warning that high levels of stress can affect a womans chances of conceiving with those who are anxious being 12% less like to get pregnant than women who stay calm.

Stress hinders conceptionIt has long been said that if you want to have a baby you must stay calm but this is the first time that there has been proof of it. A study at Oxford University and the U.S National Institutes of Health studied blood levels of a marker for the stress hormone alphaamylase and found that they were constantly higher in women who had trouble conceiving.

Authors of the study admit that they are not sure how fertility is affected by the stress hormone and it may be that it reduces blood flow in the fallopian tubes and this may affect transportation of the egg or sperm.
