The Governments Health Watchdog ruled yesterday that the traditional view of 'eating for two' is dangerous.

#eating For Two MythThey have come forward with this in an attempt to thwart an obesity crisis in pregnant women. Meanwhile, the National Institute For Health and Clinical Excellence have added that, unless advised otherwise, mothers-to-be should be exercising every day and drinking water. Other advice includes eating breakfast to prevent snacking and expectant mothers not eat any additional food until the final three months pf their pregnancy.

This comes in light of recent statistics showing that almost half of pregnant women are overweight or obese, leaving themselves prone to complications.

This is not to say that the new revelations have not been met with criticism with some taking the view that the advice is the last thing on the minds of pregnant women and is impractical, to say the least.

I've no doubt this particular debate will rage on......
